Bethany Dent-Reynolds kissing murderer Kieran Robinson

CCTV of probation officer kissing and hugging murderer on jail visit

THIS is the moment a probation officer was caught on camera hugging and kissing her murderer boyfriend in prison.

The footage, published in full below, was filmed during one of Bethany Dent-Reynolds’ several visits to see Kieran Robinson at HMP Lowdham Grange.

The Lewisham Letter revealed last week how the 27-year-old, from Forest Hill, had been jailed for eight months at Woolwich Crown Court for misconduct in public office.

The court heard how the pair, who met when Dent-Reynolds was working as a prison officer, exchanged “sexual” WhatsApp messages and calls over the course of their relationship.

We can now also reveal that a letter from Dent-Reynolds – and a printed photograph of the pair chatting to each other on a video call – was found in Robinson’s cell during a search.

Oliver Lawrence, the managing director of the Public Safety Foundation, told the Lewisham Letter: “It’s outrageous that they were hugging and kissing each other right under the noses of the prison guards.

“His victim, whose life he ended, will never get to give his loved one a cuddle or embrace them or see them again.

“Prison is meant to be a deterrent, it’s not supposed to be a summer camp. These people have committed very serious crimes. Serious crimes should come with very serious ramifications.

“And yet this individual somehow got hold of a mobile phone and engaged in an intimate relationship with someone working in the justice department – it all just stinks.

“They shouldn’t have even been able to start a relationship in the first place.”

Mr Lawrence questioned how Dent-Reynolds’ prison visits to Robinson failed to trigger any alarms.

He added: “There are so many red flags, it begs the question how was this missed?

“The inability of the prison service to pick up on the fact that she worked in the justice system was a massive failure.

“I would like to find out what due diligence was done in relation to knowing who she was in relation to him.”

Footage of the pair meeting at Lowdham Grange shows them hugging and kissing twice on the lips before sitting down on blue chairs to talk to each other.

During their conversation the pair can be seen holding hands and laughing, while a prison officer walks by just a metre away.

Mr Lawrence said the recent string of scandals involving female prison officers having relationships with inmates has taken a heavy toll on the reputation of the justice system.

He added: “It’s horrific. It demonstrates how dire our justice system is from policing to prisons.”

Robinson and his cousin were jailed for life in 2021 for the murder of 18-year-old Donnell Rhule on the Kingswood Estate in West Dulwich, London, in 2020.

The killer first met Dent-Reynolds in Belmarsh Prison at some point during her employment at the jail between October 2022 and April 2023.

However, it was not until she had left the prison and started work as a probation officer at another jail that they started a relationship, Woolwich Crown Court heard.

Their romance began after Robinson messaged Dent-Reynolds on social media.

She made several trips to see Robinson in prison between February and May 2024. At the time she was working as a probation officer at HMP Brixton.

At Dent-Reynolds’ sentencing hearing prosecutor Sam Willis, said the defendant accessed the probation service’s nDelius computer system using a colleague’s login credentials to look up Robinson’s case files.

The barrister added: “She said to Robinson ‘do you know what everyone said in their interview? They all stuck it on you’.

“She said ‘everyone had prepared statements except for you’. She went on to say ‘when I was reading it I was like oh my God this is f****** ridiculous. Yeah, makes me angry, But also makes me upset angry. I don’t know like, it’s a mix of emotions, I just want you out’.

“He then says ‘I just want to be with you’.”

Dent-Reynolds was arrested in October 2024 and finally convicted last week.

Chantelle Stocks, defending Dent-Reynolds, said her client had previous “impeccable good character”.

She added: “This is not a case where there has been any suggestion of in-person physical sexual contact between the pair.

“For the most part they exchanged sweet nothings that had minimal impact.”

Ms Stocks, of Adley Gray solicitors, added that Dent-Reynolds suffered trauma from domestic violence as an adult and during her childhood.

She added that the defendant was “surrounded by dysfunctional dynamics”.

A Prison Service spokesman said: “While most prison staff are honest and hardworking, thanks to the work of our Counter-Corruption Unit we are catching more of the small minority who are not.

“Where officers fall below our high standards, we do not hesitate to take robust action.”
