Probation officer in court over ‘inappropriate relationship’ with lag
A FOREST Hill probation officer has appeared in court after being accused of having an “inappropriate” relationship with a serving prisoner.
Bethany Dent-Reynolds, 27, of Sunderland Road, Forest Hill, has been charged with two counts of misconduct in public office and one count of unauthorised access to computer data.
It’s alleged that between March 1 and April 20 last year, while working as a probation service officer, she was in a relationship with Keiran Robinson — a prisoner she was supervising.
Details of the first charge she is facing are: “Between 01/03/2024 and 20/04/2024 at Thamesmead in the Borough of Greenwich while acting as a public officer, namely Probation Officer, wilfully and without reasonable excuse or justification misconducted yourself in a way which amounted to an abuse of the public’s trust in the office holder by being in an inappropriate, romantic relationship with serving prisoner Keiran Robinson.”
The second charge reads: “Between 15/02/2024 and 03/05/2024 while acting as a public officer, namely as a Probation Service Officer of His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), wilfully and without reasonable excuse or justification misconducted herself in a way which amounted to an abuse of the public’s trust in the office holder by being in an inappropriate relationship with a serving prisoner named Kieran Robinson and that she had caused His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), computerised software programme namely Ndelius Record to perform a function with intent to secure unauthorised access to data held in a computer.”
The third charge states: “Between 15/02/2024 and 03/05/2024 at Thamesmead in the Borough of Greenwich caused a computer to perform a function with intent to secure unauthorised access to a program or data held in a computer or to enable any such access to be so secured Contrary to section 1(1) and (3) of the Computer Misuse Act 1990.”
Dent-Reynolds confirmed basic details about herself in court before the case was sent to Woolwich Crown Court.
